At the Old Hollow Tree in Stanley Park
Join the author and a Grade 4/5 class and their teacher from Lord Roberts Elementary School to sing a song from the book called  "O' Stanley Park" (to the tune of "O' Canada") and celebrate the longevity of the Old Hollow Tree in the park.  The tree may have to be removed in the future, so come sing with us to celebrate its long existence.

Inside Canada's Youth Jails

Just Announced — Proceeds from the book, Juvie: Inside Canada's Youth Jails, go to support the Reena Virk Youth Justice Award, presented annually by Camosun College. The Reena Virk Award is presented to an eligible student enrolled in the Camosun College Faculty of Criminology, who has an interest in young offenders.

First Annual Reena Virk Youth Justice Award
This award was established to honour the memory of Reena Virk and will be presented to students enrolled in the Camosun College Faculty of Criminology in Victoria. Gord Cruse, an employee of the Victoria Youth Custody Centre for twenty-six years and the author of Juvie: Inside Canada’s Youth Jails, will present the award to a first year student with a learning disability and a second year student who intends to work with young offenders. The Virks will also speak at the event.
